PARIS, France - Nissan Motor Co,. Ltd has created an aid package of up to 1 million Euros to support the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Turkey following the recent devastating earthquakes in the region.

The fund is comprised of an immediate 750,000 Euro donation to Turk Kizilay, the Turkish Red Crescent. The organisation is carrying out vital search & rescue operations and providing 24/7 on the ground emergency aid including food, medicine, blankets, and offering psychological support.

The donation will contribute to the wider international effort to save lives and support people affected by the disaster in the hardest hit parts of Turkey.

An additional fund of up to 250,000 Euros will be made available by Nissan to match donations from its employees and partners who want to help directly.

In the aftermath of the earthquakes, Nissan staff based in Turkey sent trucks loaded with 25,000 Euros of urgent food and clothing supplies, including baby food, coats and diapers, to affected areas, and volunteer support from Nissan employees is continuing.

Nissan Chairperson for the Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania region, Guillaume Cartier, said: "The situation in Turkey is a human tragedy on a massive scale. On behalf of everyone at Nissan, I send my thoughts and deepest sympathies to those suffering as a result of this disaster. We pledge our full support."
