MELROSE, JOHANNESBURG – Nissan South Africa (Nissan SA) awarded a Nissan X-Trail to Orlando Pirates 'Player of the Year' at the club's end of season awards held at The Venue, Melrose Arch last night (Monday 02 July 2007).

Of the nominated players, Innocent Mdledle walked off with the coveted title, which earned him the keys to the Nissan X-Trail. The 21-year old defender   has been one of the most consistent performers in the Castle Premiership this season.  Mdledle's meteoric rise has been achieved through dedication and commitment, while his style on the field has seen him compared to footballing greats David Nyathi, Edward Motale, and Innocent Chikoya.  In only his second season in top-flight football, Mdledle has already gained national recognition by representing the National Under-23 team on numerous occasions.

"I'm thrilled to be honoured with the Player of the Year award so soon into my career.  Receiving a vehicle as impressive as the Nissan X-Trail, in the process, is the cherry on top!" said a delighted Mdledle,

Nigel Kapswarah, Product Manager for the Nissan X-Trail, said the voters had made a wise choice: "Mdledle is an impressive player with a lot of potential. He has already shown great talent and Nissan is delighted to reward him with an X-Trail."

Mdledle takes over the title from last year's Orlando Pirates winner, goalkeeper Francis Chansa.

Nissan SA is the vehicle sponsor of Orlando Pirates and Nissan SA's association with Orlando Pirates goes back five years.
