KYALAMI EQUESTRIAN PARK, KYALAMI – Team Nissan showed its true colours by taking first place at the 2011 Adult SA Outdoor Grand Prix, held on the final day of  the Nissan Easter Festival yesterday (Wednesday 27 April 2011).

Nissan Nabab Forever and Nissan-sponsored rider Barry Taylor won the show jumping competition after a jump-off with second and third-placed Jade Hooke (New Era) and Brendan McNevin (Crystallize). Taylor put his win down to a mixture of luck and skill. “He had an immaculate round,” Taylor said of Nabab Forever, the horse he purchased only last year but which is already showing world-class qualities. “Everything just came together on the day.”

Handing over the trophy, Nissan managing director Mike Whitfield said Nissan’s sponsorship of the Easter Festival - an equestrian highlight - in partnership with the Gauteng Horse Society, was a rewarding experience. “We have forged a special relationship with the Gauteng Horse Society since the start of our association two years ago.”

Whitfield confirmed that Nissan SA’s sponsorship of the Easter Festival would continue for another two years. The manufacturer of a range of SUV and 4X4 vehicles - ideally suited to equestrian sports - also sponsors the 2011 Riders Showjumping Championship and Team Nissan, a group of riders who take part in countrywide events.
