Feature upgrades to X-Trail for 2012 model year

Leading the compact SUV class for more than a decade

Win with the X-Life and Nissan X-Trail

Since the launch of the original X-Trail in 2001, Nissan's compact SUV has continued to lead its segment by offering value for money, a purposeful attitude and a healthy mix of practicality, versatility and usability – integrating well into the diverse lifestyles of its owners. X-Trail is now taking on 2012 with a few upgrades to specific models and a refreshed attitude – living the X-Life.

A popular choice in South Africa

With its many appealing factors it's no wonder the Nissan X-Trail has found favour with so many South Africans,  topping the sales charts over the past decade in the compact SUV segment. Over 22 000 X-Trails have been sold since 2001 to date, with the Nissan beating its second-placed competitor by a massive 41 per cent. Pleasingly then, the X-Trail is the top-selling compact SUV of all time, having held the annual number one position for seven years.

The authentic SUV brings with it not only a rugged appearance – aided by a masculine profile, a bold face and a high stance (with 203 mm ground clearance) - but a zesty SUV personality as well, in keeping with typical South African lifestyles.

It's an integrated lifestyle vehicle – from interior practicality where storage bins, pockets and a large glove box with heating and cooling functionality mean you can take your life into your X-Trail, to class-leading luggage capacity, purposeful versatility (like excellent approach and departure angles) and Nissan's award-winning 4x4-i four-wheel drive system – which allow you to take your X-Trail wherever your heart desires.

The X-Trail range presents a host of invaluable and luxurious features, including the likes of a reversing camera, three transmission options (manual, automatic or CVT), under-floor drawers in the boot, a comfortable drive thanks to independent multi-link rear suspension and intelligent keyless entry, depending on the model.

XE and SE models gain feature upgrades

The 2012 model year sees feature upgrades applied to XE and SE models, where the former gains a USB port for media integration, Bluetooth for hands-free cellphone connectivity and audio streaming, and a multi-function steering wheel. SE models also gain a USB port and Bluetooth audio streaming which works in harmony with the existing Bluetooth hands-free system. LE models retain their premium specification, including a standard 6-CD front-loader.

Still going strong

No compromise – that's the X-Trail's middle name, and when even the base XE models come with high standard specification and the choice of petrol or diesel power, the tone is set for the rest of the range: modern, innovative value for money with a solid reputation, great safety levels, classic styling and advanced technologies. A real SUV; a smart buy.

Ross Garvie, Senior Product Manager for SUVs at Nissan South Africa states: "This commitment is demonstrated by our sponsorship of the Nissan TrailSeeker Series held in Gauteng as well as the Nissan Half Marathon which forms part of the MTN National Mountain Biking Series." The Nissan Trailseeker Series invites mountain bikers to ride over six races, spending quality time with family and friends.

The X-Trail is all about lifestyle integration and an extension of one's natural pioneering spirit. "People with multi-faceted modern lifestyles continue to choose the Nissan X-Trail – an experience which is now enhanced thanks to the 2012 model year upgrades," concludes Garvie.
