  • Winner of Miracle Drive raffle takes home Nissan X-Trail
  • Miracle Drive raised over R1 million for the Miracle Drive event in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 6 March saw a year's worth of effort come to fruition as Jewish charity organisation, Chabad House, celebrated their campaign beneficiaries at their annual Charity Ball, hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The gala dinner is an evening that completes the organisation's annual Miracle Drive – an initiative that raises funds for various projects in support of not only their own community, but the broader society.

The organisation raised a ground-breaking R18,5 million during this year's efforts. Four million will be allocated towards youth programmes, R1,5 million towards education programmes, and with senior citizens and care programmes receiving R4,6 million additionally. In addition, since the initiative's inception, 17 libraries were built, with six more opened this year.

Car manufacturer Nissan, have been a part of the initiative for some staggering 28 years, and have once again handed over a new Nissan X-Trail Tekna, valued at R480 000 and fitted with Nissan's latest Intelligent Mobility, as the grand prize of the evening to one lucky winner. The winner of this year's prize vehicle was from Cape Town - Mr. Michael Mendelowitz.

Chabad House, through the Miracle Drive, assists the young and old through several upliftment programmes. One of these programmes is "Grow Your Life" - an initiative that promotes literacy and entrepreneurship among vulnerable youth.

The organisation plans to use all proceeds raised to further invest in the various upliftment programmes currently supported by Chabad House as well as identify new programmes requiring aid.

"As an organisation we rely strongly on corporate involvement and donations, and that is why we are particularly proud to be associated with Nissan. Long standing partnerships such as this doesn't go unnoticed and gives us the opportunity to enrich and truly change people's lives in the long run," said founder Rabbi David Masinter.

Chabad House prides itself in being a strong support for communities and aims to restore hope and dignity to many. This aligns powerfully to Nissan's vision to provide continued health, housing and educational support through many successful initiatives.

Kabelo Rabotho Director of Marketing handed the keys to the winner and had the following to say. "We are extremely delighted to be a part of the change made possible by our sponsorship of now 28 years. As a company, we are looking forward to a continued partnership with an organisation that not only aspires to but actively changes people's lives."
