ROSSLYN, South Africa – Are your kicks always on trend? Are you ahead of the curve, never missing a chance to keep your IG followers up to date with what is hip and happening? Do you keep your apps updated to the latest version? I bet you don’t skip leg day. Don’t lie, you sometimes wear sunglasses at night. You sound like the kinda person who is perfectly suited to the new Nissan Micra Acenta Plus Tech.

The styling hatchback has just joined the fifth generation Micra line-up and is packed to the hilt with tech features, so that your wheels become an extension of who you are.

But don’t take our word for it, the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists just announced that the Micra was picked as one of the 12 finalists in the 2019 AutoTrader SA Car of the Year competition.

So, you know you’ll be riding around in a coveted car.

What makes this model so hot, is that it incorporates Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology (NIM) features, which were created by Nissan as it plans for the future of mobility.

These features are normally reserved for its high-end premium vehicles, but this is the first time Nissan is introducing these features to the Upper B hatchback segment.

Meaning you’ll have all the flashy features without the hefty price tag.

See more around you
One of the most dope features are the four 360-degree cameras around the car connected to the large screen on your dashboard, giving you an Intelligent Around view monitor, and instantly improving your driving and parking.

The four cameras create a virtual bird’s-eye view of your car so that you can see everything around when you are trying to park, switching between views to see what is behind or on the curb.

This allows you to impress your crush when you can park right close to the party, by nabbing that difficult parallel parking spot everyone else had been avoiding.

There is also Moving Object Detection which keeps an eye around your car, and warns you about moving things – trolleys, intoxicated friends - detected nearby.

Blind Spot Warning boosts your vision by alerting you if there are vehicles in the blind spots diagonally behind your car. And Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking monitors the vehicle in front of you and beeps loudly if you are getting too close, and if you don’t react to that, it will slow the car down for you to avoid collision.

It's like having a third eye and sixth sense.

Staying connected
What would a Tech model be without a way to connect your beloved smartphone to the vehicle? The new Nissan Micra Acenta Plus Tech model is compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which is a smarter, safer way to interact with your phone while driving.

Just connect your phone via a cable and then the 7-inch touch-screen colour display becomes an extension of it. Once connected, you will be able to access maps with turn-by-turn navigation, music, telephone services and other apps such as Audiobooks and Spotify – all with your eyes on the road.

And the car comes with a dedicated Siri button on the steering wheel, so you can get her to do things, like send an update to your followers, without picking up your phone.

There is also a smaller 5-inch Nissan Advanced Drive Assist Display that is located on the dashboard, in line with your line of sight so that distractions are reduced even more, and you only see the most important information.

If you want to roll old school, you can still listen to your beats through Bluetooth or USB.

Smoother, faster
Besides the tech features, the all-new Nissan Micra comes with an efficient 66kW Turbo Petrol engine gives you instant acceleration with dynamic performance.

However, tech has been used to enhance the smoothness of the ride. Such as Hill Start Assist which holds the vehicle when stationary – without you needing to keep a foot on the brake or apply the parking brake.

There is also Intelligent Trace Control which delivers confident handling around corners as it adjusts the brake pressure on individual wheels to help keep you on an optimal line through turns. And Intelligent Ride Control, which applies subtle braking to prevent unpleasant upper body motion over bumps and enhance the overall comfort of your ride.

The Nissan Micra Acenta Plus Tech comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel and an Energy Orange interior. It also includes, like the rest of the Micra vehicles in the new range, daytime running lights, front power windows, a manual aircon, cruise control, automatic headlights, six airbags and much more.

Nissan has an extensive accessory personalisation offering for the new Micra, meaning you can personalise the car to suit your outgoing personality.

Pricing
The new tech model within the Micra range is perfect for any independent fashionista who loves being connected and wants to feel like they are living in the 21st century with a stylish car that meets all their technological needs.

And, of course, the Micra provides peace of mind motoring and comes with a comprehensive aftersales offering together for hassle-free motoring.

As with all other Nissan vehicles, the Nissan Micra is covered by Nissan Assured and comes with a 6-year/150,000km warranty; a 3-year/90,000km service plan; and 24/7 roadside assistance.
