Rosslyn, South Africa – Twenty four hours may seem like a short time, but for the energetic Meruschka Govender it is ample time to crisscross her home town in a Qashqai in search of some #NissanMagic.

"I want to inspire young people to become tourists in their own town by showing them some of my favourite places in the heart of Johannesburg," says Govender, who is better known as MzansiGirl.

MzansiGirl has called on her loyal social following to find three young South Africans between the ages of 18 and 24 to join her on her inner city weekend adventure and she focused on people who are aspiring to become professionals in the travel industry.

"The tourism industry most often focuses on travels outside our city and even outside our borders, while there is so much to see and experience right under our noses. I want to show these aspiring professionals what they are missing out on and inspire them to share the experience with friends and future clients," says MzansiGirl.

In turn the chosen three will take to social media to share their experiences via blogs and other articles.  "I am passionate about Jozi and the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures with MzansiGirl and #NissanMagic really inspired me to tell the world about our wonderful city and country", says Travel and Tourism student Moeti Malumo.

In making #NissanMagic, MzansiGirl follows in the footstep of people like Brent Lindeque, Siya Sangweni-Fynn and Danine Naidoo. Each of these inspiring young South Africans picked a month to join hands with Nissan and its vast network and to make a meaningful difference in an area that they are passionate about.

"In challenging young South Africans to make some #NissanMagic, we have unlocked so much energy and potential. If you combine this with help from our large national network of dealers and our range of capable cars and bakkies, you are in for an adventure," says Graeme Birch, General Manager for Marketing Communication for Nissan South Africa.

There is no doubt that Meruschka is passionate about South Africa, its people and its beautiful places. As a travel professional, Meruschka started Tweeting her love for the country in 2010 under the moniker MzansiGirl. This soon became her personal brand and is now a well-known call sign on the Internet and social media for people looking to experience their country.

After a carefull selection process, MzansiGirl loaded the three candidates in her Nissan Qashqai and took them on the "ultimate urban experience" of some of her favourite places in Jozi, including Braamfontein, Maboneng and Constitutional Hill. She also took them on a special graffiti walk to expose her guests to the world-class outdoor art that is hosted by the city as part of the recent CityofGold project of which Nissan was part sponsor.

MzansiGirl selected the Nissan Qashqai 1.6 dCi XTRONIC CVT for her urban adventure. The Qashqai offers ample space, good performance from the 1.6 turbo diesel engine with 320 Nm of power and the versatility inherent in all Nissan crossover models.

"The Qashqai will easily accommodate me and my fellow adventurers. With the more commanding driving position and use of that XTRONIC gearbox, the car will make the adventure easy and I can focus on sharing my passion for the city," says MzansiGirl.
