Rosslyn, South Africa – Ntandoyenkosi Kunene is off to a fast start in her reign as Miss South Africa 2016 after receiving the keys to a brand new 'top of the range' Nissan Juke at a special post-event breakfast this morning.

Nissan South Africa is a proud vehicle sponsor of the Miss South Africa pageant and the Juke will be the official transport for the duration of Miss Kunene's reign, ensuring that her style is complimented by the unique styling of Nissan's sporty crossover. The Juke is valued at R359 900 and represents a significant portion of Miss South Africa's prizes, which are valued at over R2 million.

"I am ecstatic. I have great plans for my my time as Miss South Africa, and the Nissan Juke will surely keep me on the road and on cue for my many engagements," says Ntandoyenkosi.

With this sponsorship, two of South Africa's long-established brands join hands. The Miss South Africa beauty pageant was established in 1956 and has been crowning a Miss South Africa ever since. Nissan South Africa started doing business in South Africa not long thereafter, in 1959, and it remains one of South Africa's most popular marques.

Ntandoyenkosi will drive off in a Nissan Juke 1.6 DIG-T Tekna model, which features the highest specification level in the Juke range. This model has, among a host of practical technology features, a 5.8-inch touch screen that integrates with the driver's cellphone via Bluetooth and which offers full touch functionality and in-built satellite navigation. Additional luxuries include a full leather interior, climate control, a sun roof, keyless access and of course the effortless drive from a punchy 140 kW 1.6 litre turbo engine.

In addition to the creature comforts, the Juke remains one of the safest vehicles in its class. Fitted with Nissan's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and six airbags, the Juke received a full five-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP crash safety programme.

In Tekna trim, the Juke also features Nissan's patented Safety Shield system, which incorporates various passive and active safety features, such as a blind spot monitoring system, a rear-view camera and a moving object detection system, offering the highest level of safety to Miss South Africa and her passengers.

At its introduction, the Nissan Juke stunned the motoring world with its combination of SUV stance, coupé silhouette and hot hatch handling. Since its introduction, it has sold over 500 000 units across the world and no less than 12 000 units in South Africa, making it one of Nissan's most popular crossover vehicles.

"We are proud to be a partner of this prestigious pageant, and we wish Ntandoyenkosi all success in her reign as Miss South Africa, knowing that behind the wheel of her Nissan Juke she will stand out from the crowd even more," says Graeme Birch, Nissan South Africa General Manager of Marketing Communication.
