ROSSLYN, South Africa – Today, Nissan launched the new Micra Active with important enhancements that contribute to the car's spirited personality. The upgrades endow this feisty little hatchback with sporty exterior upgrades as well as higher levels of interior specification

Nissan Group of Africa Managing Director of Marketing and Sales, Xavier Gobille, said: "One of our priorities at Nissan is to build vehicles that offer attractive features at a competitive price. We believe the new Nissan Micra Active with its significant enhancements sets new standards in the Lower B Hatchback segment."

Interior upgrades

The Micra Active retains its reputation of a compact vehicle with a spacious and versatile interior, but it now benefits from a sportier aesthetic.

Discerning buyers will notice the sumptuous improved interior fabric which features a new design.

The centre cluster has also been redesigned and the instrument panel has been refreshed.

The Micra Active has manual air-conditioning, front power windows, Bluetooth with audio streaming capability, a 12V power socket, steering wheel adjustment and foldable rear seats.

On the safety side, customers are well and truly taken care of with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, driver and passenger airbags, ISOfix child seat anchorage in the second row, rear headrests, rear fog lights, a high mounted stop light, remote central locking, speed sensitive auto door lock and an immobiliser.

Exterior enhancements

The grille has been redesigned to host the circular badge in a sexy chrome-extended V-shaped motif.

The bonnet, front fenders, headlamps, and front and rear bumpers also have a refreshed, modern look.

The exceptional features inside and out will appeal to those who don't want to settle for an average car. Buyers of this cool ride are active, confident, successful and despite being edgy, they're also practical, just like the Micra Active.

More on-road confidence

The styling changes make the Micra Active appear more purposeful and better "planted" on the road. Its sporty personality is echoed in the dynamic new design.

The Micra Active maintains its agile and exciting drive, which makes it perfect for the city and squeezing into tight parking spaces that few cars can manage.

The many fans of the current model will be pleased to know that the Nissan Micra Active which has one model derivative, the Visia 1.2, retains the tried-and-trusted 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 56kW and 104Nm with a manual transmission.

Accessories, optional extras and servicing

This little car with a big heart has high-end optional extras that include a reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and reverse parking sensors.

We understand the need for our youthful customers to buy accessories that reflect their personalities and we've therefore ensured that you will find what you need in our wide range of accessories that were specifically designed and manufactured by Nissan to give you peace of mind while expressing yourself.

The accessories offer quality, durability, versatility and are a perfect fit because they are covered by the Nissan Approved Accessory Warranty. The Trendsetter Pack has smoky black alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust finish, a rear spoiler and mud guards.

The Micra Active, which costs R159,900, comes with a class-leading 3-year/90,000km service plan and a 6-year/150,000km warranty. And with the touch-screen navigation and infotainment system as an added accessory for the launch period, what more could you ask for, for R159,900?

It's an undisputed fact that Nissan is a leader in the light commercial vehicle segment, but we will also be bolstering our offerings in the passenger vehicle segment to ensure that people have access to a Nissan vehicle for all reasons and seasons.

The first Micra Actives being sold in South Africa will also benefit from the addition of touch-screen navigation and an infotainment system, which has been fitted as an added accessory at no additional cost to the customer. The system comes with TomTom mapping with live traffic; Bluetooth hands-free music streaming; USB input; a built-in music hard drive and it's compatible with all iPhone/iPod models.

The touch screen navigation and infotainment system can now play a host of audio formats, including CD, VDC, DVD, MP3, MP4 and Div-X.
