Rosslyn, South Africa – Nissan South Africa might soon have to add another item to its NV200 Visia Combi's comprehensive specification list – the space to do good.
This follows well-known crusader Brent Lindeque's decision to bring warmth to needy children with the help of this capable multi-purpose vehicle. In July Brent will use this versatile vehicle in the #NissanMagic random acts of kindness campaign by calling on friends, family and followers to donate any winter-warming products to the children of the Onthandweni Family Care Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg.
"I really like the NV200's versatility," says Lindeque. "In standard configuration, you can transport seven people in comfort, but with the seats folded away there is more than enough space for the blankets, clothes and other items that we are collecting, I fondly call it my charity wagon."
The Nissan NV200 is available as a people mover or panel van and is well loved for its 2 metre long and 1.5 metre wide load area. In both MPV and panel van format, the NV200 is equipped with twin sliding doors, ABS brakes, remote central locking and an air conditioning system powerful enough to cool or heat the cavernous interior.
Under the bonnet, the NV200 is available with the choice of a 1.5 dCi common rail turbo diesel engine with 66 kW and 200 Nm of torque or a 1.6i petrol engine with 81 kW and 153 Nm. The choice of engines allows the NV200 to handle a payload of up to 672 kg and tow a braked trailer of 1.1 tonnes.
The NV200 with 1.5 dCi engine uses only 5.3 litres of fuel every 100 km in a combined driving cycle, while the 1.6 petrol version covers the same distance on 7.4 litres of petrol. Both models have to check in to a Nissan dealer for a service only every 15 000 km.
Brent's NV200 Visia Combi is equipped with front and side airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP) and ISOFIX anchor points for child seats, making it an ideal choice as people carrier.
All NV200 models are sold with a 3-year / 100 000 km warranty and roadside assistance plan.
